dhl-architects: KAHO renovation project

The Berlin-based architect’s office dhl-architekten has many years of experience in construction work on existing buildings, especially on listed buildings, including projects such as the partial reconstruction of the Hubertusbad in Lichtenberg and the refurbishment of “Zum Eierhäuschen”, a restaurant catering to day-trippers in the Spreepark. The task of the expert planners working under project head Karin Schröper is to transform the former large stage of the Theater Karlshorst into a modularly useable event location. The challenges lie, among others, in analysing the existing and planned facilities and in implementing measures in the areas of fire protection, toxic substances, monument conservation as well as building services and event technology. The small exhibition shows what has happened since the building was transferred to the property of the Stiftung Stadtkultur and which visible reconstruction measures have already been implemented after the building permit was granted.
