Berlin als Stoff: Annett Gröschner & Isabel Fargo Cole

Two authors and Berliners-by-choice, who both write about Berlin in an excellent way, read from their most recent publications and ask each other questions.

The historian and writer Annett Gröschner presents a collection of portraits, political essays and reports on Berlin in her documentary, (auto)biographical publication “Berliner Bürger*stuben. Palimpseste und Geschichten”.

For the American author Isabel Fargo Cole, who writes in German, Berlin is the subject of a novel. In 2019 she wrote her second one, “Das Gift der Biene”, in which she takes a closer look at and in a certain sense also portraits Germany, and especially East Germany, after unification.

Based on their Berlin books (Edition Nautilus 2020), the authors talk about the many different stories of people and places of Berlin, about the image of the city and the changes it has undergone.

Please inform yourself about our current admission and hygiene rules before the event.
