Marina Frenk & Dmitrij Kapitelman
Two persons who have made what appear to be similar experiences: the flight of their parents from the former Soviet Union, childhood in Moldavia resp. Ukraine and life as “quota refugees” with their families in their new homeland Germany. Both write about these experiences. The results are two very different novels with unexpected intersections, exciting revelations, a lot of longing, humour and frank questions. The actress, singer and writer Marina Frenk and the journalist and writer Dmitrij Kapitelman read from their recent texts at the KAHO and talk about the role that the family plays in their own identity, about art, the differences between German and Ukrainian bureaucracy, their dreams, the resurgence of nationalism and many other controversial issues.
