Open Air Cinema: Die Architekten (DEFA Classics)
The DEFA film “Die Architekten” tells the story of the architect Brenner (Kurt Naumann) who for years designed only bus shelters. Now he is supposed to design a large cultural centre. But the concept of his collective is thwarted by the SED authorities. Peter Kahane (“Bis zum Horizont und weiter”) shot his touching “turning point film” before German unification and thus proved that the end of the GDR was long foreseeable.
