Marlies Pahlenberg: Kinder

The film “Kinder” by the Berlin-based artist Marlies Pahlenberg gathers portraits of persons who lived in Karlshorst during their childhood, either entirely or temporarily. Formative childhood memories of local, political or entirely mundane events are restaged for the camera. With the aid of bodies and movements, the contemporary witnesses repeat remembered actions and occurrences, using pieces of furniture and things from their current homes as props and counterparts. Through these re-enactments, the perspective of the child is once again assumed, who looks at things differently than today. Memories become enactments on the domestic stage, performed with the props of daily life.
