Guided Tour of the District “Secret Karlshorst. Search for Traces in the Former Soviet Restricted Zone”
During the Cold War, Karlshorst was an important decision-making centre. After the end of the war in May 1945, Karlshorst became a Soviet restricted zone, housing the military administration, the secret services and Soviet troops. Later, the Stasi and the border control for the Berlin Wall were also located here. The tour itinerary focuses on the former sites of secret and military facilities on Zwieseler Straße, Arberstraße, Bodenmaiser Weg and Köpenicker Allee, ending at the KAHO, the former Soviet House of Officers.
Start: Deutsch-Russisches Museum, Zwieseler Str. 4, 10318 Berlin
Finish: Johannes-Fest-Platz (KAHO)
